Building My First Electric Guitar

2021.12.06 00:13 Stefan123456689 Building My First Electric Guitar

Hello, I was wondering if someone could help with answering a few questions I have. So I plan on making a telecaster guitar, which will be my first real electric guitar build. I am experienced in woodworking so I am not too concerned about that part, more about other things.
So I have found on eBay a telecaster complete routing template, which to me looks good. I am just confused about a few things.
I see that there are 3 routing slots for pickups, but I plan on only using two pickups so I am guessing I will ignore the middle one? The top and bottom pickup slots seem to have an interesting shape, are there specific pickups and need to look for?
I do not want to use a pickguard because I don't want to cover up the wood I am using. Is this okay? I am assuming that with no pickguard the only downside is that you will see the routing hole around the pickups because the pickguard does not cover the gap.
I plan on buying the fretboard already slotted because I do not want to do that yet. How do I know what spacing to get for the router template?
Also, I am a little overwhelmed with what parts I need. Is there a parts list that includes all the electronics, pickups, and hardware that I need?
I was looking on the Fender website for pickups and stewmac for parts. Is this a good place?
Picture of Template:
I know this template might be too thin, but I can just use it to make my own out of thicker mdf
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you

2021.12.06 00:13 parksosauruus How can I get better at internalizing my feelings while maintaining long-term health?

I've experienced first-hand how internalizing your feelings is rewarded in society. I grew up in an environment that was against it (was never allowed to have emotional or mental boundaries), I struggled for a long time with dating, and now that I'm doing it I'm getting results interpersonally: People respect me more, they listen to my words more, I get more compliments, and for the first time that I can recall a girl initiated empathizing with me for once and tried to gauge my feelings (usually that was always my role as a fixer).
So, I'm sold on the fact that this is what society wants from men. I don't think it's a new perspective- just the way it's always been- and it's sort of nice to know what I've been getting wrong this whole time. Is it fair? Who cares. It's biological, and "the cave" was not that long ago for us as a species. I get it.
My questions are:

  1. How can I get better at this and how can I NOT develop emotional problems?
  2. Should I have outlets, and if so, what works for you?
  3. Should I be vulnerable with a partner still, but just selective and intentional about it?
  4. How do you balance having empathy and consideration for others while being a closed book?
  5. Do you think I have the wrong idea about this entirely?
  6. What do you teach to your boys as a father when it comes to emotions and feelings?
Answer any, some, or none; regardless, I appreciate whatever feedback this community has. Cheers.

2021.12.06 00:13 water-madelyn advice for asking for less days for work?

tl:Dr; i don't need to or want to work as much as i do right now and have anxiety, i would love to know how i could ask for an extra day off instead of working five days, forty plus hours a week(when i really don't need to).
I've (19f) been working full time at this job for over a month now. it's very strenuous and exhausting. some days i can get off at noon, regularly I'm off at 3 to 4 pm and i start at 7am. i currently work five days a week and have only had part-time jobs before. i don't need a full time job but when i was first hired i was available and thought i could handle working pretty often. i definitely proved myself wrong. i get home completely exhausted, i barely have any time for other activities, i sure as heck wouldn't have time for school if i was in school right now, and my once clean and neat room has become an absolute depressed mess (i was doing really well with keeping my room clean). I'm on my feet for 8-12 hours a day, hauling boxes and squatting and hunched over tables (im a baker), i have constant back pains and ankle pains which i thought would go away after a month but they have definitely not. of course, i am super glad I've been able to earn such a fine job with great coworkers and such nice people. I'm treated pretty fairly, I'm just super anxious all the time and afraid of saying or doing the wrong thing all the time. my boss is the type of man who isn't hard to respect. he's very kind and wise but also terrifying. I'm scared of asking for a three day weekend and i don't want to come off as lazy or something. ive been working my butt off and I'm hoping somebody could tell me if it's fair to ask for 3 days off a week instead of just two, and if anyone can tell me how i could word it so i don't sound stupid?
p.s. he(my boss) also would have me work Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, new year's eve, and other holidays, idk of than means anything, ig I'm just not used to that either maybe.

2021.12.06 00:13 anonboobiebill Hi, i'm new to crypto. Watching vids about ICOs. Does it mean when you buy a token and the desired amount was not met during the ICO period, do coins return to investor or ICO owner will get it? Also, if ICO was a success, does it mean you can trade now the tokens you bought?

2021.12.06 00:13 rysimpcrz Dogs and dirty, so much fun

Cross posted to mixeddogbreeds, pitbulls, and velvet hippos
We've had our pit mix Tucker for a year now, and our Border Collie-Beagle mix has been with us for 2 weeks as of tomorrow.
They are loving their time together, and they're both runners, sniffers, diggers, and very playful.
So we've hit a wall on how to get the extra energy out. When it was just Tucker we would take him on long walks, but Gracie the new one is too young to navigate our neighborhood without getting distracted and into trouble.
We have a giant yard which isn't fenced in (yet), front of the house is a high traffic road, back of the house is a giant yard, neighboring woods, and neighboring farm. Over the summer we built a 400 square foot kennel complete with dog house, swimming pool, and all the tennis balls a pup could want. THEY LOVE PLAYING THERE!
But a pit mix and a beagle mix, they are absolute construction workers. They're digging to China and come inside covered in mud and dirt after even the shortest play sessions. We're looking to layer some woodchips and other materials on there...I know there's a lot of mulch and woodchips that are not dog friendly; but at the dog park there seems to be a good layer of woodchips and other wood materials that prevents massive digging. Anyone know what materials would be best for ground cover to make their homemade play place safe and reduce how messy they can get? I want them to have fun, but I also want them to have a slightly less messy environment.

2021.12.06 00:13 CatherdraShepard My Nikki Info Issues

I frequently use this site to help me get through stages and it was working fine yesterday but today I was suddenly logged out? And my pw isn’t saved (for some reason? Could’ve sworn I saved it) so I can't log in. I'm really upset and frustrated because it took me so long to put all my clothes in the first time and now I have more than ever. I'm just getting really upset because I don’t know what happened

2021.12.06 00:13 buyingacarTA several mini-splits vs re-ducting old house

Hello all!
TLDR: We recently moved into a Massachusetts house (in June). We're trying to improve the HVAC system, which is currently very old, and very poorly designed duct system. We're wondering about two options: (1) install several mini-splits *and* upgrade furnace&AC, (2) move furnace and re-duct.
Floor plans: [Ducts are above drop ceiling in basement, under first floor -- I'm showing *same ducts* overlapped on both floorplans. Black is supply, Blue is return]
- the current pushed air system (gas furnace/AC) is old, and was poorly designed duct system (many turns, long runs, etc. The house was expanded substantially in a direction far away from the system over the years, and some contractors seemed to be cutting corners with the system.
- The system originally supplied both basement and first floor, but the basement ducts (built into the foundation!) are no longer viable. Therefore basement is currently heated through other very inefficient means (if it is)
- Nearly all ducts [feeding first floor] are accessible via drop ceiling from basement. Only ones that are not are the ones above the garage.
- The main living room (top left in diagram, large and beautiful) is where we want to spend a lot of the time (especially for our toddler). But because there are many turns and long duct runs (and ducts not insulated everywhere), the heat has a tough time getting to that room. Some fans in the ducts (!) help move the air a bit, but basically the furnace has to work a lot, overheats the bottom-right part of the house, and just barely heats the top left enough for now (might not as it gets even colder).
- system is v old (late 90s) but works for now. 125BTUs furnace, equally huge condenser. Since it's so old, we asked many (10?) contractors to take a look, give us a quote for replacing them -- which at the size of the house has ranged in the 13k-25k range (units, install, permits, all that). But even with new equipment (mostly 80-100K BTU high efficiency units), they are not sure the main room (top left) will heat well, so *on top* of the quotes above they recommend ~2 mini-splits for basement and maybe ~1 for upstairs, which seems to be another $15k or something with install and everything
As a result of all this, we've recently been wondering if we should change the location of the furnace and re-duct to supply both floors properly. We're thinking a proper designed and insulated duct system, and a furnace location that's somehow more central in the design, might fix a lot of issues. Obviously we're talking a lot of money to re-duct, but since it's in drop ceiling maybe it's doable, and we can be on one system and not a bunch of different ones (which also will cost a lot anyway). We hadn't asked the contractors this (didn't think of it then), although one mentioned re-ducting because of how horrible the current duct design is, and another ballparked re-ducting to ~10k, although I think both didn't consider moving the furnace then.
We're sort of HVAC noobies, though learning a lot quickly. If we do spend a bunch of money on this, might as well do it right. Any opinions would be super appreciated!
